The Throat Is Syrupy / The Skin Remembers

French Letter Society
The Throat is Syrupy / The Skin Remembers is the prototype for the FLS series. It was created by the press' editor, Beatriz Hausner and its creative director, Deborah Barnett. In this piece, a poem by Hausner coexists with a collage by Barnett.

Barnett's exploration is rendered in snake skin and letterpress. With careful investigation unto the ethical treatment of the snakes and the earth-friendly curing of skins, this collection includes outliers from the the Letter series including 28 broadsides, 11 unique 14 x 17" assemblages of skin as fine art for framing, and an over-run of the individual works from framed. The outliers evidence that in the creation of an art edition parts of the work produce pieces that emerge out of process and these are often exciting, becoming art events in their own right.
