In this sculptural book object Barnett references contemporary research that embraces an expansive range of materials and forms for the Book.

Holofernes’ Head gathers waste sheets from the production of the Judith’s Sword broadside. It stands in epoxy ‘blood’ where the sheets are bound in leather suggesting traditional bindings, both of the book and possibly, of ancient soldiers’ tunics. Settled in clay, the work similarly embodies both the heft and weight of Judith’s decision to slay the invading General and the atmosphere of a traveling army’s camp.
